Modern Warfare Camo Unlocks and Guide – Upcoming Videos
So I’ve been hunting around trying to find good information on all of the Camo’s, unlocks, pictures, videos, etc… and there hasn’t been a great deal of info out there. Most of it revolves around videos with guys unlocking their Gold/Platinum/Damascus Camos (we’ll get to those later).
For many players grinding out Camo’s on Modern Warfare, it can be fun, and also very challenging. It’s also interesting to see what a camo will look like on a gun before working to unlock that camo. With that thought in mind, we’re going to work to start unlocking some camo’s and providing you with screenshots or videos of various camos on the weapons so you can get an overall view.

Before we do that, let’s discuss the Camo unlock system in Modern Warfare and how it works.
Modern Warfare offers players the ability to unlock 103 different gun camouflages for every weapon in multiplayer. (100 base patterns and 3 specialty patterns)
The Modern Warfare Base Camouflages are separated into 10 camouflage patterns, with each pattern having 10 different color or style variations within it. This offers 100 different camo options. The most committed players, will unlock the 3 rarer Gold, Platinum and Damascus camo patterns.
Here are the 10 Base Camo Patterns, which you unlock in the following order:
- Spray Paint
- Woodland
- Digital
- Dragon
- Splinter
- Topo (Topographic)
- Tiger
- Stripes
- Reptile
- Skulls (unlocks at weapon max level)
Here are the 3 Specialty Camo Patterns:
- Gold – unlock all 100 base camos for a weapon
- Platinum – unlock all camos in a weapon class
- Damascus – unlock all camos for all weapons
Base Camo Pattern Unlock Requirements
The Base Camouflage Patterns are unlocked by increasing the Weapon’s XP Level. This is done simply by using the gun and getting kills with it. Once a camouflage pattern is unlocked, then the color options and variants within that type become available to unlock. Each Pattern has a different challenge you must complete in order to unlock the variants within that pattern.
Additionally, for each weapon, the Weapon XP unlock level varies as to when each Camo Pattern unlocks, as each weapon has it’s own customized Max Level and unlock scheme (due to varying amount of attachments each weapon has).
For Example, the Skulls pattern, which unlocks at a weapon’s max level unlocks on the M4A1 at 71, and on the MP7 at level 54.
Unlocking the Specialty Camos
Once you have unlocked all 100 of the Camo’s for a particular weapon, you will unlock the Gold version of that weapon. When you unlock the Gold version for all the weapons in a Weapon Class, you will unlock Platinum for that weapon class. And finally, when all weapons have all the camo’s unlocked, you will unlock the rare Damascus camo.
Variations in Unlock Progression
For each weapon class, the Unlock progression for the Camo’s stays the same, however, those unlocks will vary between the weapon classes, meaning that assault rifles, compared to sniper rifles don’t necessarily have the same unlock requirements.
For example: the base camouflage ‘Woodland’ is unlocked for the P90 once a player reaches Weapon Level 8 on the P90. After that, the player must get a certain number of Headshot kills with the P90 to unlock further Woodland camo patterns.
This is probably the most complex and comprehensive Camouflage system to date, especially for Call of Duty games.
Coming Soon! We will do some videos and posts for various weapon Camo Patterns, requirements, as well as show the variants in each of those camo’s.
